Nasi Goreng.

A very easy to make rice dish.

Ingredients:

This is so delicious and simple. Can't wait to have some.

  • 2 cups rice
  • 4 cups water
  • some salt
  • 1 lb diced lean bacon
  • 2 sliced leeks (white stuff only)
  • 2 chopped celery stalkes
  • 2 large onions finely chopped
  • 1 cup peas
  • 2 tb sp peanut butter
  • 2 tb sp sambal oelek
  • 1 tb sp brown sugar
  • pepper to liking
  • ketjap manis to taste
  • eggs to fry for # of plates served

Here we go....

Cook the rice in a large saucepan and add the salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce temperature and let simmer for 20 minutes. Rice has to be nice and fluffy! Set aside. Fry the bacon untill crisp. Remove and dry on a paper towel. Brown the leeks, celery and onions in the same pan with the left over oil from the bacon. Heat should be medium. Add the peas, peanut butter, brown sugar, sambal, pepper, salt and ketap and then the bacon. Simmer the lot for about 5 - 10 minutes. Serve and mix with rice and a fried egg over top of each plate. An addition I personally have with this meal is the small kroepeoek and peanut sauce. I take the kroepoek and scoup the nassi with it, add some peanut sauce and enjoy.

Serve with a nice cool beer and 5 of your friends.
