Kroepoek or Krupuk.
Such a fun way to make.....Crunch!
What you need!
You can buy the small round medaillons of kroepoek, they expand to approximately to 3" - 4" piece. But for the real ladies under you, there is available large kroepoek. Before cooking its about 5" long and 1-1/2" wide. Now when you fry these pieces they will expand to 8 or 9 inch monster kroepoek and have a width of about 3 inches. Tell that to your husband!
- Deep fryer
- Sunflower oil
- Tongs
- Beer
Handling the kroepoek.
Get your deep fryer heated to 350F or 180C. Throw in a few pieces of the medaillons and see them pop. After a while you will know how many will fit after fried. For the large pieces you will only be able to fit one in your fryer unless you break up the piece. If you keep them in one piece they will curl up along your fryer wall. If you are quick you can reshape them with a wooden spoon by pressing them flat. It's easier thought to break them in 3 pieces, however the look will be better unbroken. An alternative is to fill a large deep frying pan with oil and heat. The large kroepoek will expand more flat that way. Have all the excess oil drain of the kroepoek and serve semi warm. Kroepoek can be saved for the next day but will be harder and should be disgarded after that.
