Bami Goreng.

The nasi with noodles. Not my favorite, but maybe yours.

Ingredients galore:

To me this is more a chinese type of dish with a malaysian flavour.

  • 1/4 sunflower oil or margarine
  • 1 cup cubed raw pork or chicken
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1-1/2 tea sp garlic
  • 1/2 tea sp ginger, fresh preferred
  • 1 cup cooked cubed ham or chicken
  • 4 leeks, sliced
  • 3 cups chopped chinese cabbage
  • 3/4 lbs chinese noodles
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tb sp milk
  • 1/2 tea sp black and white pepper eah
  • 3/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1-1/2 cups bean sprouts
  • Ketjap Manis or ABC sauce to taste
  • 1 tea sp sambal oelek
  • 2 tb sp lemon juice
  • salt to taste

Putting it all together

Use a wok and melt the margarine. Saute the pork untill its brown. Add onion, garlic and the ginger and saute till you can look thru the onion. Now add the ham and let the works sit for 20 minutes. Melt 1/4 cup of margarine in a frying pan and brown the leeks and cabbage. Cover and let sit or lay for 14 minutes. Do not overcook the veggies. Now go do the noodles according to instructions in chinese (go here to translate.)

Now beat the eggs, milk, salt and pepper (don't hurt them) and make an omelette. Cook, roll and slice into strips. Now mix the meat, veggies, noodles and celery in the wok and heat quickly. Add bean sprouts and cook for 2 more minutes. Now add the fluids, Ketjap or ABC, sambal and lemon juice. Toss and mix the whole works well and serve, putting the omelette strips on top.
